A few things you need to understand
You'll see many other agencies hang their hat on being a Platinum or Diamond Earmarked agency. Lets talk Earmark agency and how it works. First off it's not about extraordinary customer service. It's not about exceeding client expectations each and every time. It is about how much revenue they produce for Disney. A Silver agency books $1 to $3 million where a Diamond agency books $20 million dollars or more in revenue for Disney to achieve that status. But look at the amount of agents they have.
This Diamond agency has over 2600 planners. Another Diamond agency has 55 agents whose first name starts with the letter A. Do some math. We will never have no more than 25 vacation planners. With 25 agents, to be a Diamond agency, each one of out planners needs to book $800000.00 in Disney vacations. With the average Disney vacation about $3500 each agent needs to book 228 vacations a year! Its easy when you have hundreds of people like these agencies.
Mickey's Travel is not an agent mill. At these agencies you will never deal with the owner, you will be assigned a team leader. With agencies that have hundreds of planners what is the chances of someone finding you in their list of planners? How long do you think someone will scroll down to finally see you? YOU COMPETE with all the hundreds of planners they have. Some agencies have designations like Top Achiever or Star Agent. People visiting the site will probably think they are better planners and you won't have a chance.
I've been in business for over 30 years. Don't you think I could have gotten 500 planners by now? That is not what we are about and its NEVER been about the money or perks. I want people that have a passion for Disney, love planning vacations for other like you probably have for friends and family for free. Here is the chance to do what you love, have been doing and get paid to do it. If you are about going above and beyond each and every time whether you're earning $10 or $1000 I WANT YOU!
I was very good helping people with their Disney vacation plans. I decided I wanted to be a travel agent that specialized in Disney. Let me tell you about those first few days.
That was a time of the brick and mortar travel agency. There was one on almost every corner in town and I went to every one. I was told you need to come in 2 nights a week plus one day each weekend to answer phones, stick labels on brochures and greet customers. And there was no pay for that but they will teach me to be an agent. I thanked them and explained I just want to book Disney vacations for people. I book my own and have helped many of my friends and family book theirs. They looked at me like I was crazy and said “Well that’s not the way it works”.
I was disappointed and then I found an ad "Be A Travel Agent And Work From Home". I had to cough up $1500 to join. $300 annual fee each year. I had to pay for all training courses plus $30 a month for booking software which I didn’t need to book Disney. It was a 50% commission split and while it was suppose to be paid monthly I needed to always ask for my commissions. It was totally ridicules and the only people making money was that company.
