Authorized Disney Vacation Planner

Authorized Disney Vacation Planner.  What actually is that?  This is the official clarification from Disney:

Authorized Disney Vacation Planner Agency Spiel
Our travel agency’s knowledge of Disney products has earned us the distinction of
being named an Authorized Disney Vacation Planner. We were given this special
designation by Disney as a result of our agency’s ongoing focus and commitment to
planning customized, magical trips to the Disney Parks, Disney Cruise Line® and other
Disney vacation destinations worldwide

And honestly most agencies that are Authorized Disney Vacation Planner are very good indeed. But I need to nudge Mickey’s Travel a bit higher than most of them.  First off they have been helping people plan Disney vacations for over 20 years since 1994.  That is in itself a huge statement.

The owners of Mickey’s Travel told me they get 3 travel agent applications a week on average. That is about 150 people each year wanting to join Mickey’s Travel.  Yet they have only 25 agents since deciding to bring on an outside sales force in 2011.  So in four years and 600 applicants they chose only 25 people to be a Mickey’s Travel Disney vacation planner.   Here is what the owner of Mickey’s Travel had to say

“We need more more than just somebody that loves Disney.  We have a Certified Vacation Planner Program which our agents need to be qualified for.  To become a Mickey’s Travel Certified Vacation Planner an agent at Mickey’s Travel must have multiple past trips to Walt Disney World or Disneyland consistently during the last 5 years.

Once they join Mickey’s Travel they are required to vacation at Walt Disney World or Disneyland every year and take a Disney Cruise voyage or ship inspection every 5 years minimum. Each Mickey’s Travel Certified Vacation Planner, while on their personal vacation at a Disney destination, must make at least one Disney resort inspection and meet with the resort day manager.

But it is much more than that.  We need agents to step up when the going gets tough.  We had someone at the All Star Movies a few years back.  A snowstorm cancelled their flight leaving a father and a four year old stranded.  He contacted our agent explaining he has $12 dollars to his name, does not have a credit card and gets paid biweekly.  He is broke and can’t pay for anything. He asks can you please help me?

My agent contacts me in a panic asking what to do. After instructing our agent to never give up and explaining what to do she contacted Disney reservations explaining the situation. After two hours on the phone our agent finally gets transferred to a woman in operations. Frustrated our agent once again explains the situation and offers she is willing to sacrifice her entire commission to help this family.

Operations says she has to put her on hold and this could take at least 20 minutes or so and my agent agrees to hold.  Close to 20 minutes later operartions comes back to our agent and has our client comped for a free night but they need to move to the All Star Sports Resort.  Also when they check in at Sports there will be dining vouchers they can use for the food court at the resort for dinner.

No I and I want  more.  I am the hardest person to please
