Resort guests will start to receive the new MagicBand 2 sometime In January 2017.  The retail version of MagicBand 2 will be released around the same time and there is an accessory key chain version.  There are other types of accessories that will be released in the future

The concept is the electronics will be contained in a small puck which is the centerpiece and can be removed with 2 small screws.  Then puck then can be placed in accessories such as the current key chain.  .
